Sports Day 2017

6th Class really enjoyed their final Sports Day in Rathcoffey N.S.
The competitiveness was quite evident in every race including the sprint, three legged and hopping race. The penalty shoot out was down to the wire also with Ultan winning out in the end. Well done to all!

5th and 6th School Tour 2017

This year, we went to Kippure Adventure Centre, Wicklow. We all braved the heights with challenges from abseiling to balance beams and the leap of faith. We also enjoyed orienteering in our groups in the beautiful sunshine.
On our way home we visited the beautiful Russborough House, where we played and has a picnic. A great day was had by all!

Paired Reading Buddies

Recently, 6th class have teamed up with Junior infants for ‘Paired buddy Reading.’
We meet with our reading buddy frequently throughout the week. We are loving being able to hear the Juniors reading, assist them with sounding, blending and comprehension.
We look forward to seeing their progress throughout the rest of the school term. We also are looking forward to creating a book specially designed for our ‘reading buddies.’

Cyberbullying

As part of the Stay Safe programme, we revisited the topic of ‘Cyberbullying’
Following lots of discussion and roleplay, we worked in groups to produce these excellent posters to make children in our school more aware of Cyberbullying and how to stop it.

Bog of Allen Peatland Conservation Centre

During April, 6th class went on a cultural trip to the Lullymore,where they visited the Bog of Allen Peatland Conservation Centre. This was part of their studies into habitats in boglands.
We took part in a wide range of activities. Some of our favourites were searching(and finding..Ava) frogs, pond dipping for insects and invertebrates and making a ‘Bog in a bottle.’

Assembly Hosts January 2017

Every month both a junior and senior class host an assembly. We had the pleasure of performing in January. We performed ‘Amhrán na gCupán’ and ‘Spirit Anthem’, one of our confirmation hymns.
We celebrated all children’s birthdays and achivements in January.
